Brick: Top cup weekendLava top: MajorObsidian: playoffs

  • All season: ranked play, with the Top cup on 12 weekends.
  • Weeks 5, 10 and 15: Majors, with no cup those weekends.
  • Week 16: the playoffs.

Only Majors, the playoffs and the Top cup are events. 2v2 runs the same season system. Co-op has no season, because it is unrated.

Making a week count

Play 10 ranked matches in a week and that week counts: your leaderboard place that week earns ladder points, and you unlock that weekend's cup. Your best 10 of 15 weeks count. No single snapshot of the ladder decides a playoff place.

The Top cup

  • The weekly cup for the top 50 on the leaderboard.
  • A weekend 1v1 league of 5 to 9 matches, played whenever you're online over the weekend. The exact number is set in the beta.
  • Every match has its own seed, so no seed can be scouted or shared.
  • Swiss pairing: each match is against a player on the same cup record, widening by at most one step when nobody is online. Ties go to whoever beat stronger opponents.
  • It gives playoff points, and your best 6 of 12 cups count.

Every other rank has its own weekend cup with cosmetic rewards. You can enter only the cup for your rank, and lower cups give no playoff points.

Majors

  • 64 players: the top 48 on playoff points, plus 16 from an open qualifier the week before. Players who join late get in through the qualifier.
  • Saturday: all 64 race the same 5 seeds, scored by finishing order. The top 32 go into a knockout, seeded by race result (1st plays 32nd), and play the rounds of 32 and 16. A tie at 32nd place is settled by one sudden-death seed.
  • Sunday: the last 8 play on to the final.
  • Knockout matches are best of 3 until the last 8, then best of 5, final included.

The playoffs

The top 16 on playoff points play a single-elimination bracket, ending in a best-of-seven final. There is no last-chance qualifier, and only the playoffs crown a champion.

Not decided yet: how the playoff bracket is seeded and how long matches are before the final.

Playoff points

Playoff points come 20% from the ladder, 30% from Top cups and 50% from Majors. Points for each place:

When a season ends

  • Ratings fully reset, and everyone plays placement again.
  • Season-end titles: special titles for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, then top 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100.
  • Every player gets a recap card to share.
  • Each battle pass follows a season, and rewards not reached by its end are lost.
