Why categories run outside Splitstone
Speedrun.com rejects any run with a mod that isn't on its legal list, and Splitstone's mod isn't on it, because it changes luck for Splitstone's own modes. So Splitstone doesn't host categories. It sends you to your own legal instance instead, and every run there can be submitted.
How the switch works
- Pick "Play RSG" or another category.It's in Splitstone's menu.
- Splitstone closes and your legal instance starts.Your launcher opens it as it is: no Splitstone mod, no cosmetics, vanilla luck.
- Quit that game and Splitstone starts again.This happens only when you came from Splitstone. It can also bring back the run's SpeedRunIGT record, which speedrun.com allows after the run.
Splitstone sets this up in your instance's config, so you don't have to. Each switch restarts the game.
Still being tested. The one-click switch has to pass hand tests on each supported launcher before it is finished, so details may change.
Launchers
- Prism and MultiMC: switch both ways. If Prism is set to quit after your game closes, Splitstone turns that off for the switch and puts it back afterwards, without asking you.
- Modrinth App: being tested.
- Official Minecraft Launcher: it can't start a chosen installation for Splitstone, so you switch by hand.
Records
Each category and mode keeps its own records. Runs you submit to speedrun.com are judged there, under its rules.
