What a replay shows

Replays focus on where you lost time and why, the way top players review runs.

Split analysis

  • A split-by-split table of time gained and lost against your opponent, with a jump to that moment.
  • Finer Nether splits: bastion leave, fortress and second portal.
  • Your averages by seed and bastion type, best splits and sum of best.
  • A comparison with your rank's average and the next rank's, with a guide built from your biggest losses.
  • Where and how you die or reset, by split.

Inventory over time

  • Your resources next to your opponent's: rods, pearls, logs, beds and food.
  • Decision checks such as pearls against a target, blaze rate and backups.

The full replay

  • Both routes drawn over the same seed.
  • Frame-by-frame and slow playback.
  • Notes and links to a moment.

How long replays are kept

Every replay is kept for 10 days and can be downloaded. These are kept for good:

  • your best runs and your last 50 ranked matches;
  • every player's personal best;
  • matches between top-100 players;
  • playoff and event matches;
  • the season's 10 fastest runs, and its top 4 for each seed type and each bastion type.

Your match history itself stays for good, even after a replay expires.

Watching live

  • Ranked matches are shown live with no delay. Ghosting, using a live view of a match to cheat, is handled by the rules and reports.
  • Find a match three ways: a friend's match, the live list of top matches, or a search by player name.
  • The live list shows events first while they run, then friends' matches, then ranked matches by the players' combined Elo, and marks players who are streaming. The website's Live page shows the same order without the friends part.
  • You follow the player you came for. From the live list, you follow whoever is ahead.
  • Live watching and replays show finer Nether splits and inventory counts, to players as well as spectators. Players don't see them on their own screen during their match.
  • Everyone chooses who can watch their matches: everyone, friends or nobody.
  • Messages from spectators wait until the runner finishes or abandons the run.

Coaching

  • A player, or a 2v2 or co-op team, can have up to two coaches in a match. Players invite their coaches from their friends.
  • In ranked, a coach sees only their own player or team, never the opponent, since both sides play the same seed.
  • A coach can talk to their player during the match. In 2v2 and co-op, the coach talks to one teammate, chosen by the team.

Broadcast tools

Organisers approved for an event get broadcast tools: camera control, split and timeline screens, and a live data feed for stream overlays.
