Opening and joining

  • Anyone can open a room, and every room holds up to 64 players.
  • Players join by invite or with a room code.
  • A party of more than two plays together in a private room.

What a room can play

The normal run or a game mode, in one of three formats:

  • Free-for-all (1v1v1…),
  • Teams of two (2v2v2…),
  • Co-op teams racing each other.

Rooms don't host speedrun.com categories; those run in your own instance (Categories).

Host options

  • A filtered seed or a set seed.
  • The seed type or the bastion type.
  • Start at a chosen split, such as Nether entry or the End.
  • How teams are made: chosen by the host, random, or balanced by Elo, and the relay region for team and co-op rooms.
  • A time limit that places players by how far they got.
  • Whether spectators and coaches are allowed.
  • Team voice and whole-room voice on or off.
  • A head start, in seconds, for chosen players.
  • Most of the room rules MCSR Ranked players know, except any that change luck.

Rooms always use Splitstone's standardized luck, so there are no luck switches.

Results

  • Room matches don't change Elo.
  • They go in a match history of their own, and room times have their own leaderboard, separate from Ranked 1v1.
  • In a team or co-op room, if the player hosting the shared world leaves or crashes, the room ends; start a new one to keep playing.

Extras for supporters

Every host gets the options above. Supporter tiers add a few extras:

TierRoom extras
Tier 1Choose both the seed type and the bastion type
Tier 2A custom room name; room replays saved for up to 2 players
Tier 3A "request to join" mode; room replays saved for up to 4 players
